1. OCI applications filed in India cost ₹15,000, payable through a Demand Draft to the Pay and Accounts Officer (Secretariat), Ministry of Home Affairs.

How to Apply for an E-OCI Card? A complete Process

Step 1: First, check whether you are eligible, then collect your documents.

Before applying for an OCI card, first confirm that you are eligible. The eligibility criteria are: being a former Indian citizen, a child of Indian parents, or the spouse of an Indian citizen.  Once you confirm your eligibility, keep all required original documents and self-attested photocopies ready in advance to make the OCI application process smoother and faster.

• Proof of Indian Origin: Old Indian passport (first and last page), Surrender Certificate, Nativity Certificate, or proof of Indian descent via parents/grandparents.

Step 2: Start filling out the online application on the OCI portal
