Need Your OCI Card Fast? 9 Ways to Expedite Processing

You also feel like you are not able to make a plan because your application shows “Pending status”? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Many applicants face this situation.  We know that only the Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card is your golden ticket to lifelong, visa-free travel, but standard processing can feel like an endless waiting game.

Are you also stuck in the same situation, and you don’t have time to waste? This blog is best for you. Here you will know 9 Ways to expedite the processing of your OCI application and get your card in hand before your flight takes off.

What is “expedite” meaning in OCI card?

Expedite” means fast, or in OCI card terms, it means to speed up or fast-track the process so you can get your OCI card faster.

However, here is the most important thing you need to know:

The Indian Government does NOT offer an expedited or “rush” service for OCI cards.

OCI processing time usually takes 4 to 6 weeks (and sometimes up to 8 weeks) because the actual card has to be printed in Delhi, India, and shipped to your local embassy or VFS Global center and Visament.

What should you do if your OCI card is still pending during an emergency?

In this situation, if your application shows pending and you face any emergency you have two options from which you can easily travel.

  1. Apply for an e-Visa (Fastest): You can apply online for an Indian e-Tourist or e-Business visa. It is usually processed very quickly (often within 24 to 72 hours).
  2. Apply for an Emergency Visa: If there is a severe family emergency (like a death or critical illness of a family member), you can visit an Indian Embassy or VFS center in person to get an Emergency Visa, which is usually granted within 1–2 days.

Note:- There is no official “fast track” option. Keep your OCI application running and apply for an e-Visa.
